Connecting Carers Annual Review

Posted on

Connecting Carers would like to invite carers, professionals and those interested in the work of Connecting Carers to join them at the Highland Archive Centre for a review of their activities over the past 12 months.

The review will look at the challenges faced by Connecting Carers, Highland Carers Advocacy and Connecting Young Carers and explore the impact of the care agenda and increasing numbers of unpaid carers in Highland.  They will also be sharing highlights and successes of the past year.

Looking forward, the implications of the implementation of the Carers (Scotland) Act 2016 will be discussed.  The Act has far reaching consequences for unpaid carers and those working with carers in Highland.   They will be outlining ways in which Connecting Carers will work with unpaid carers to support them in their caring roles and enable them to have a life outside of caring.

Highland Carers Advocacy has experienced one of its most demanding years since inception.  The advocates will be sharing their experiences and advising on the kind of support they can offer carers experiencing difficulties.

The Young Carer team will be on hand to provide an update on their activities and to showcase their strategic approach for reaching young carers in education in Highland.
