Changes to AHP's Service

Posted on

The Highland Council Allied Health Professionals (AHP's) practice is changing in line with current guidance and national directives on health and wellbeing outcomes for children and young people (CYP). This will make it easier for parents/carers to access advice & support from the service.

You are now actively encouraged to look for advice first from staff before making a request for assistance. You can email as below, and use established contacts with local staff. In addition you can phone 07785 477686 on Tuesdays between 2pm and 5pm from 21 August 2018 onwards. A Physiotherapist, Speech and Language Therapist and Occupational Therapist will be available.

The “Request for Assistance” form has been re-designed to be able to assess the request more efficiently. The AHP’s will not hold the duty of care for the child or young person until they have gained enough information to be able to decide whether it is appropriate to accept them into the requested service. This means that they may contact you or others to get more information, and you should not assume that they will accept a CYP into their services until this has been agreed.
